If you have been buying your food for your dogs and cats from the grocery, it is likely you are buying the wrong kind. Many dog food items placed on the shelf in grocery stores offer no help to your dog. If you look at the ingredients list, many of the foods contain a primary ingredient of corn, which isn't digestible. Also, the only source of protein from these types of foods are by-product which means the "leftovers" from whatever protein source they include. For instance; chicken by-product consists of the intestine, possibly beak and feet, and waste from the chicken. All of these will not help your dog gain any nutrients and they will be mainly passing their food and possibly becoming overweight from the fat in their diet.
